Growing up where I did, you learned to love pumpkin recipes from an early age. One of my favorites has always been my pumpkin roll recipe. It’s so yummy! A good chocolate chip pumpkin bread is another that is high on my list! You just can’t beat a warm piece with butter!

Quick bread recipes are some of my favorite recipes. Aside from this pumpkin chocolate chip bread, I am also obsessed with my chocolate chip bread recipe and my banana nut bread recipe.

There is just nothing like combining warm, homemade bread with sweet and delectable ingredients.

Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Bread

Pumpkin though – pumpkin has a special place in my heart.

and once you taste how amazing this chocolate chip pumpkin bread is; it will for you too.

This recipe for chocolate chip pumpkin bread makes two loaves.

Recipe for Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Bread

You Will Need:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 15 ounce can pumpkin puree or 2 cups fresh pumpkin puree
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. ground cloves
  • 1 tsp. ground nutmeg
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • ½ tsp. baking soda
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped pecans, optional

Pumpkin Quick Bread with Chocolate Chips

To start making the best pumpkin quick bread you’ll ever taste, preheat your oven to 325° F and grease two bread pans liberally.

Next, use a medium mixing bowl and a hand mixer to beat the butter until it is creamy. Please use real butter for this recipe. You will only be doing yourself a disservice by using margarine.

We do not advocate the use of margarine on this blog.

Margarine is the devil in disguise. 😉

Next, add the sugar and cream the butter sugar mixture.

If you’ve never creamed sugar and butter together, it basically just means to beat them with a mixer until they’re fully combined and have a creamy texture.

Best Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Bread

After you have creamed the sugar and butter, add the eggs all at once.

Beat with the mixer to combine.

Now add the pumpkin puree and mix until it’s fully incorporated as well.

It will turn a rather disgusting color.

It’s all good. Your chocolate chip pumpkin bread will still taste amazing and won’t look disgusting when it’s all said and done.

In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda and spices. Use a fork to mix them together.

Slowly mix the dry ingredients into the wet making sure each addition gets fully incorporated.

I do around 1/2 cup of dry at a time. Mix well after each addition.

Add in the chocolate chips and pecans if you’re using them.

Be sure to reserve a few back for the top of the loaves.

Mix well to incorporate making sure there aren’t any huge clumps of chocolate or nuts.

Pour the batter into the two bread pans and smooth out the top a bit.

Sprinkle the remaining chocolate chips and pecans on top of the loaves.

Bake both loaves at 325° F for 60-75 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
