This easy DIY mason jar Halloween decor adds just the right touch of magic to your seasonal decorations. Perfect as a budget-friendly project, it’s a fun way to make easy Halloween crafts for kids or adults. Halloween has always been my favorite time to flex my creative muscles and this Witchy Jar Scene is one of my favorite Halloween crafts hands down. It’s simple, whimsical, and gives off just the right mix of spooky and fun. By sealing a tiny Halloween scene inside a jar, it captures the spirit in a single moment; kind of like looking into the witches secret lair.
What makes this Halloween craft so simple and special is how easy it is to customize. You can use a witchy scene like I did for this post, a black cat hissing at the moon, bats and more. Whatever scene you decide you would like will fit! It’s almost like building a diorama like we did back in school, but the glass from the mason jar helps to draw the eye in a bit more.
and I adore that this and my other favorite Halloween crafts all use simple supplies. A quart glass mason jar, a witchy figurine, a few plastic spiders and bats and you’ve got the perfect set up to create your own witchy jar Halloween craft.
It’s also one of those projects that works for every age. Your kids will love that they can make it their own and how simple it is for little hands to make. Adults will enjoy that it’s cute but spooky and that the glass protects the scene inside. It’s also super budget friendly which usually makes any parent happy.
What makes this Halloween craft even better is that it grows with every Halloween. One year you might make witchy scenes. The next year you could do ghosts and the year after skeletons. Over time, the collection becomes a little gallery of Halloween memories, each one unique but connected to the ones before it. It’s the kind of project that doesn’t just decorate a home. It helps build traditions.
The real beauty of this Halloween arts and crafts project is that it can challenge your creativity. If you’re wanting to switch it up for your next holiday party or Halloween party, these are a fantastic way to do it. You can use them as DIY Halloween centerpieces and more! You could even put battery operated flameless LED tealight candles inside to create a spooky glow.
No matter how you spin it, these witchy Halloween crafts are great for kids of all ages including older children and adults. Honestly, anyone who loves spooky things are going to love these! They look amazing as centerpieces or you can just line your mantel with them! The next time you’re looking for fun Halloween crafts, I highly recommend you give these a try!

Instructions
- Using the canning jar lid and ring, add a dab of hot glue to the underside of the lid and fill with the greenery. Make sure you add enough to give your figurine a bit of height so that it will show when the jar is added and flipped upside down.
- While the glue is still wet, add a drop or two to the bottom of your Halloween figurine and set it down inside of your lid on top of the greenery.
- Set it aside and allow the glue to dry completely.
- If you're using the plastic bat rings, cut the ring portion off and using a dab of hot glue, attach them to either the figurine itself or the outside of your canning jar.
- If you're using the felt pumpkins, simply add a dab of hot glue and attach the same way. Allow the glue to dry then carefully screw the lid onto the jar until the lid is tight while keeping the jar upside down. Finish by typing a piece of ribbon or yarn around the base of your mason jar Halloween decor and voila! You're done!
