Halloween is one of my favorite holidays each year. I just love the idea of dressing up as something you’ve always dreamed of being. I also love the creep factor that comes with spooky Halloween decor! That should be evident by the fact that my own child has worn a DIY Zombie Bride costume several years in a row complete with my homemade Halloween blood recipe. I’ve even decorated my home with a DIY serial killer bathroom before just to scare my family! We love Halloween around here plain and simple! That is where this easy mason jar Halloween decor craft comes into play! It’s so simple it makes decorating for Halloween a snap!

Who says Halloween crafts have to be complicated? This easy mason jar Halloween decor craft is super easy, super spooky and budget friendly too! Your kids will love helping and you'll love how it looks in your home!

This mason jar Halloween decor can be as simple as you want it to be or as elaborate as you would like it to be. That’s why it’s one of my favorite mason jar crafts hands down! It can also be made very cheaply if you use figurines and such that you find at the dollar stores such as Dollar Tree. Once you’ve gathered the supplies, it comes together in just a few minutes which makes it perfect as a kids Halloween craft where they will only need a little bit of assistance. These are also perfect for reusing glass jars instead of throwing them away. One of my favorite ways to have a zero waste home is to reuse glass jars. They are one of my favorite things to reuse to save money. What could be better than a cute decor piece and saving money at the same time?

This would be super cute as a mantel decoration if you did several different scenes using different figurines. You could also switch things up and make them as Thanksgiving decor or Christmas decor projects.  The directions are the same. The only thing you would swap out is the decor items and the figurines. All you would need to do is change up your jars each season and you would have a fantastic decor piece that is sure to draw people’s attention!

You will need:

  • Quart Canning Jars
  • Canning Lids and Rings
  • Halloween miniature figurine
  • Faux grass or greenery
  • Felt pumpkin stickers or Plastic bat rings
  • Scissors
  • Glue gun
  • Hot glue sticks
  • Ribbon

Using the canning jar lid and ring, add a dab of hot glue to the underside of the lid and fill with the greenery. Make sure you add enough to give your figurine a bit of height so that it will show when the jar is added and flipped upside down. While the glue is still wet, add a drop or two to the bottom of your Halloween figurine and set it down inside of your lid on top of the greenery. Set it aside and allow the glue to dry completely.

If you’re using the plastic bat rings, cut the ring portion off and using a dab of hot glue, attach them to either the figurine itself or the outside of your canning jar. If you’re using the felt pumpkins, simply add a dab of hot glue and attach the same way. Allow the glue to dry then carefully screw the lid onto the jar until the lid is tight while keeping the jar upside down. Finish by typing a piece of ribbon or yarn around the base of your mason jar Halloween decor and voila! You’re done!

See? Super easy and just creepy enough to fill your home with awesome Halloween decorations on a tight budget (Six Dollar Family)! Love it!
