Quick & Creative Side Jobs to Pay Down Debt

Debt. Did you know that around 70% of all US households hold some form of debt? Being overloaded with debt and spending more than we make is considered the norm for most households today which really makes no sense to me at all. Maybe I’m just strange, but the concept of not spending more money than I have on hand keeps things very simple for me. If I only spend what I have then I can’t overspend and I won’t owe anyone any money. Simple enough, right? Yet I still have debt and I’m willing to be that the vast majority of you do too. For our family though, getting out of debt and staying there is hugely important to us so we’ve been doing everything we can to quickly pay down the debt that we owe. That’s why I have gotten very good at finding quick ways to pay down the debt that we do have. These quick and creative side jobs to pay down debt have helped us in a huge way and I’m sure they can you too!

The thing about side jobs is that they are exactly that. Jobs that you do on the side. They’re not meant to make you a full time income. Sure, some of them can turn into a full time job and income like blogging has for me and countless other bloggers, but the majority of side jobs aren’t going to pay your bills. They will, however, create an income stream that will allow you to throw extra payments at your debt whenever you need to.

Side jobs shouldn’t be hard to figure out. In reality, if you spend more than a few minutes thinking about it? You’ve probably over thought it. Instead, go with the first couple of ideas you have. They’re usually the ones that you will not only enjoy more, but that you’re more likely to do.

Starting a blog is a fantastic way to pay down debt. It really isn’t as hard as it may sound.

Are you great at finding deals? Sign up as a personal shopper with Shop Your Way Rewards and help others find awesome deals! You’ll make a commission on the products they buy which could mean a really decent paycheck for you!

Opening a resale business is another awesome way to earn some extra cash to pay down debt. Shopify offers very affordable plans (starting at $9.00/mo) to host an online store for you. Use social media and your hosted website with them to create a steady income stream for yourself.

Another way to make money to pay debt off is by getting creative. Do you have access to pallets? Go grab a few, create pallet art and sell them!

How about a crockpot? Why not make crockpot soaps, homemade creams, lotions and more? We’ve got a few great creams, scrubs and other beauty product recipes right here on the blog.

Do you crochet or knit? Etsy and Ebay fans love home crocheted or knitted items!

How about making home canned foods? Those items can be sold too! Etsy, local farmers market, Facebook groups, and Craigslist are all great places to sell those items and can bring in a nice tidy profit.

It’s fall and that means that leaves need raked. You could pick up a nice tidy sum by raking leaves and later this year after snow starts falling by shoveling snow. All you need is a good snow shovel and some warm clothing and you’re good to go.

Do you write well? Why not get paid for it? There are a ton of places that will pay you $100 or more for every article that you write!

Your phone can help you pay down debt too. How? There are a ton of different ways to earn money with it! I use several of them in the $225 post that I linked to above and those will get you started very easily!

If you’re good at math, reading or writing, you can tutor? Maybe history is your favorite subject? Either way, tutors can make a nice side income and you get the satisfaction of helping a child learn a new skill!

Have you gotten good with your camera? There are several different websites that will pay you for your photography so that they can be used for stock photos like the one used in this post.
