Mmmmmm….smoothies. I love starting my morning with two things. First, I need a little bit of quiet time to gather my thoughts together for the coming day. The second is one of my favorite smoothie recipes! Generally, I still to one of my two favorites, my peanut butter smoothie recipe and my pineapple orange smoothie recipe, but sometimes I get a bug to switch things up with a greens smoothie recipes or…a strawberry banana smoothie! For me, there’s nothing that screams “rise and shine” like a fruity and delicious smoothie and this particular smoothie recipe? Ah-mazing!

Start your morning off right with an amazing smoothie recipe! Let me show you how to make a strawberry banana smoothie that will knock your socks off!

This strawberry banana smoothie is perfect for breakfast or lunch and I do love to enjoy it for both. It is hearty enough that it will fill you up but it isn’t heavy enough that you feel like you ate a rock. Plus, it is packed with protein for a healthy start to your day! You will need a good blender to make it though. Since it has banana in it, I found that if I use one that isn’t powerful enough, it won’t quite get it pulverized the way it needs to be for a smoothie. We use a Ninja Master Prep blender when we make ours since it mixes everything the way that we want it to.

When you’re making this, you can customize how you want it to taste to a certain extent. If you want to learn how to make a strawberry banana smoothie, use this recipe without adding the orange. If you’re looking to make a strawberry orange cream smoothie, use the recipe as is. It really is that simple since this base recipe can be played around with to make a couple of different variations. The vanilla protein powder that you use is up to you as far as brand. I personally love using Legacy Food Storage, but you can use whatever you have or want to. You can also totally skip it, but keep in mind that your smoothie may not be as creamy without it.

You will need:

  • 8 ice cubes
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries
  • 1 banana
  • 1 cup vanilla yogurt
  • 1/2 fresh orange (if you’re making an strawberry orange cream smoothie)
  • 1 scoop vanilla protein powder
  • 1/2 cup milk

Slice your strawberries in half lengthwise and cut your banana in half. If you’re making a strawberry orange cream smoothie, peel half of an orange. Add all of the fruit, the ice, milk and protein powder to your blender.

Put the lid on your blender and pulse for a few seconds to break up the ice a bit easier. Once you’ve done that, blend until your smoothie is mixed and creamy. Serve cold and enjoy!
