Decorating your home for the Halloween season can be incredibly fun for those that love Halloween. I know that I personally love decorating my own home for the spooky season and Halloween decor is some of my favorite décor.

That should be pretty evident by my personal favorite Halloween decoration; my Serial Killer Bathroom tutorial. I loved the reaction I got from my family and the fact that I didn’t have to spend a ton to pull it off.

But, as with any home décor idea, you can easily go broke decorating if you aren’t careful. That’s why these spooky home décor are some of my favorites. These tricks and treats are all under $50.00!

How to Decorate for Halloween on a Budget

The best décor ideas are ones that you love, but that don’t cost a ton. When I put together this group of spooky home décor, I tried to find décor that would fit a wide range of styles. You’ll find farmhouse Halloween décor, gothic Halloween décor and cute décor ideas too.

How Can I Decorate My House Scary?

If you’re in the mood to scare your guests and truck or treaters, you’ll want to spend some time decorating. Even if you’re not looking to create terror in people, but want to send a creepy shiver and chills down their spine, it isn’t hard to do.

The simplest way is to make your house look like a haunted house. Use hanging ghosts and fake tombstones, goblins, oversized spiders with fake spider webs and other Halloween stuff to create thrills for the whole neighborhood.

Inflatable yard decorations are never a bad idea and you can’t go wrong with the sense of fear a fog machine creates. Colored lighting behind the fog machine can create a eerie glow that really gives your yard an otherworldly appearance.

Just be sure to keep in mind not to go too scary if you’re handing out candy. If so, you’ll want to keep stick to more kid-friendly Halloween decorations so you don’t scare the littlest of the little ghouls and goblins.
