Confession time; I love Amazon and do as much shopping as possible with them. It may be because I take the time to earn free Amazon gift cards which means that 99% of the time, I’m shopping for free. I do occasionally have to spend money over there so when I do, I want to make sure I can save as much money as possible. One of the easiest ways to do that is by shopping Prime Day each year!
If you’ve never heard of Prime Day, let me explain really quickly. Each year, Amazon hosts Prime Day. It is a day of deals and savings much like Black Friday. It is always in July so it could sort of be compared to Christmas in July. These deals are exclusive to Amazon Prime members only which means you must be a Prime member to receive the lower savings prices. If you are not, you will be charged the normal price and miss out on free 2-day delivery.
How to Save Money on Amazon Prime Day
Saving money on Prime Day is already pretty easy since the deals can be fantastic, but there ways you can save even more money if you are careful what you’re doing. There are a lot of benefits to being a Prime member since there are so many Amazon Prime secrets a lot of people overlook. Prime Day is a great way to get a head start on back to school shopping or even to save money on Christmas gifts by shopping a bit early so it is worth taking a look at the many deals you can save on during the event each year.
First and foremost, if you’re not an Amazon Prime member already, be sure to take advantage of one of the offers below:
Amazon Prime 30-Day Free Trial – Amazon offers a FREE 30-day trial of Prime to shoppers who are not already Prime members. You receive all the benefits of a Prime membership including access to Prime Day, free 2-day shipping, Prime Video and so much more. You can sign up for the Amazon Prime free 30-day trial HERE.
Amazon Student 6 Month Free Trial – If you’re a current student with an email address that ends in .edu, you can score an even better offer on Prime. Amazon will give you 6-months of Prime FREE when you sign up for Amazon Student HERE. You must have a .edu email address. Once your 6 months is up, you’ll be able to upgrade to a paying membership if you wish and save 50% on that cost as well.

Now that we’ve got that out of the way, here are a few other ways you can save money on Prime Day. Make sure to put them into practice if you’re going to be shopping. For 2018, Prime Day is July 16 and the deals will happen all day long.
Before you shop –
I realize that Prime Day is a shopping event, but do yourself a favor and make sure you household budget can handle any spending you may do. The last thing you want is to do a little Christmas or back to school shopping only to find that your household budget has failed leaving you in a bad position financially.
Use Amazon Coupons –
Did you know that Amazon has digital coupons you can use? There are literally thousands of products that qualify for a coupon. I’m not sure if any will be available for Prime Day items, but it is certainly worth bookmarking the Amazon Coupon page found HERE to check and see! You never know what you’ll be able to save money on!
Shop Early –
Prime Day prices are only valid July 16 which means that in order to guarantee you get deals on what you want, you’ll need to check in on the site early and often. They work a bit like Amazon’s Lightning Deals so different deals go live at different times of the day. Make sure you grab a deal when you want it and that you check in on the site several times a day to see what is currently live to save on.
Bookmark the Prime Day page –
Prime Day deals are easiest to find from the Prime Day page on Amazon. In order to make it easier for yourself to find the deals, I highly recommend that you bookmark the Prime Day page HERE. Another thing you may want to do is bookmark the Gold Box page found HERE since a lot of sellers that aren’t doing Prime Day deals may still do quick Gold Box deals instead.
Update your shipping address –
Before you shop Prime Day, go into your Amazon account and make certain your address is correct. You wouldn’t want to buy anything only to have it delivered to the wrong address. Make certain your street address is correct as well as your name and zip code.
Update your payment info –
Like your address, make certain your payment info is correct as well. Some deals may go quickly which means if you’re having a payment issue, you could miss out on the deal you want to buy. Make sure to update not only any expired or no longer valid cards, but that you also update the billing address, expiration dates if needed and so on.
