If Halloween is your jam, you are really gonna love this one. These white chocolate ghosts are one of those desserts that look like you spent hours in the kitchen but honestly come together in just a few minutes. How you ask? Simple ingredients, my friend. Simple ingredients.

They start with a simple pre-made base; twinkies. Must-have zombie rations are covered in frozen, covered in white chocolate and decorated. Once they’re done, you have super cute white chocolate ghosts that stand upright for the perfect spooky treat.

I like recipes like this because they’re quick, but they also make people smile. Put a tray of these out at your next Halloween party and they’ll be the first thing your friends and family notice.

All you need is a box of Twinkies, white chocolate candy melts and black icing. That’s it. Like I said, super simple ingredients that make a great Halloween treat.

With Halloween recipes, presentation is half the battle. These look great if you make them look as if they just came from the graveyard. Line a baking tray with crushed Oreo cookies to make it look like they’re standing in dirt. You could even add them on top of cupcakes to add an extra special treat.

How to Store White Chocolate Ghosts

Storage is simple too. Once the coating hardens, just keep them in an airtight container at room temperature for a couple of days. If you need them to last longer, pop them in the fridge, but let them come back to room temperature before serving so the cake inside stays soft. They do freeze okay, but you’ll need to be mindful not to allow the chocolate to crack when you’re packing them.

The best part about these though is that they are super kid friendly; even the decorating part! Because they’re ghosts, crooked smiles and smudged eyes actually fit very well with them! Just let your kids have fun and don’t worry too much about perfection!

At the end of the day, these white chocolate ghosts are a mix of cute, tasty, and easy. They fit right in with the rest of the Halloween spread but don’t require much time, effort, or money to make. They’re a permenant staple on my list of Halloween desserts!

Instructions

  • Line baking sheet with parchment paper and freeze Twinkies for 15 minutes. Slice in half and stand up cut side down onto the baking sheet.
    10 Twinkies
  • Melt white chocolate in microwave in 30-second increments. Stir well after each time using a silicone spatula.
    Wilton White Chocolate Melts
  • Once the mixture is smooth and creamy, use the spatula to spoon chocolate over the top of each cake. Be sure to use enough that the chocolate pools at the bottom to create the flowy part of each ghost.
  • Refrigerate for 20 minutes or until the chocolate has hardened.
  • Using the icing without a tip, pipe eyes and a mouth onto each cake.
    Wilton Black Sparkle Gel Frosting
  • Store in the refrigerator until ready to eat. Consume within 72 hours.

Notes

  • May be frozen up to 3-months. To freeze, make as directed and allow to fully harden. Carefully wrap each white chocolate ghost in plastic wrap twice. Freeze in freezer bags or laid down in an airtight container carefully. Do not stack too high as it may cause the chocolate to crack.
