Let’s not beat around the bush. Losing your job is scary. It leaves you with uncertainty that you probably didn’t have yesterday; or even this morning. It’s not an easy situation to suddenly find yourself in.
But at the same time, all doesn’t have to be lost. It’s not an end all be all situation. You can make the best of it without letting life kick you in the teeth one more time. You are obviously trying to do that since you’re here looking to learn how to make money without a job, right?
How Do I Earn Money Without a Job?
The question for you is not whether you want to earn money at home while you look for another job, it’s how do you want to. Truth be told, it really isn’t terribly hard to earn from home. Most of the time, a simple Google search will do the job.
But with that said, I’ve got decades of experience earning from home and that’s a good thing for you.
How Do I Make Money at Home?
I would hope anyhow.
Let’s take a look at how to earn money with no job that don’t require much more than a laptop or phone. Keep in mind, these ideas won’t be for everyone and there are one or two that are done in person. Hopefully though, you can find at least one or two ideas that work for you and your family.
Survey Sites
Yanno, online surveys get a bad wrap a lot of the time, but the truth is that at the end of the day a solid, legitimate survey company can actually provide quite a bit of extra money each month and end up being a respectable side hustle for your family.
Yes, you do have to be careful as there really are a lot of scammers out there. Using sites like Survey Police and blogs such as this one is a great way to keep yourself from being scammed. Most bloggers who talk about a survey site have been paid themselves and in some cases, for years. Just be sure to take some reviews with a grain of salt. Reviews on surveys are like any review; subjective.
Some of these will pay out in gift cards while others pay out in cash. Some use a hybrid payment and allow you to choose between the two.
A few of my personal favorites are:
Swagbucks – This is by far my biggest earner. I have earned almost $20k in the 10-ish years that I have been an active member of Swagbucks. Payment can be instant depending on your level, but usually 5-10 days. They pay by gift card or Paypal.

Neilson Computer Panel
I’m gonna be totally honest. I don’t have much experience with this one, but I am 100% certain it is legit. The Neilson panels have a very proven track record of paying on time when they’re supposed to. It won’t make you rich, but if you’re trying to make money without a job, anything helps.

This one I am very familiar with having been a member since my pre-Six Dollar Family days. Earn points for completing legitimate surveys and cash those in for cash or prizes.

Survey Junkie
Survey Junkie is another very well-known and legitimate survey site. In fact, they have paid out of $55,000 to their members over the years. You can earn over an average $100 a month or more with this one by doing just three or four surveys per day. That’s part-time about 15 minutes of work! Again, it isn’t going to make you rich, but it’s extra income!

Online Store
Starting your own online store, flea markets or doing online marketplace sales is another great way to make money without a job. If you have some spare cash, you could source products from thrift shops, but if not, take a look around your home.
Chances are really good you can find a few items per day to list as for sale.
Just be mindful of your asking prices. You won’t sell much if you’re asking retail prices for used items.
Remote Customer Service and Data Entry
A lot of companies are using AI agents for customer service these days, but some still want their customers speaking with a real person. That makes remote customer service jobs in demand. Again, just be mindful of “too good to be true” and use a site such as UpWork to find the legitimate positions.
The same thing goes for work at home data entry jobs. Some of these don’t require experience so they’re perfect for someone who is just entering the work at home world.

Sell an Online Course
If you’ve got a talent or skill, why not put it to use making you money? Teaching an online course might seem intimidating, but you can do it! To start, research different teaching platforms and decide which one you want to use. From there, create your course content and you’re off and running!
Start Your Own Website
Hey. Guess what? This website you’re on? It has been my primary income for almost fifteen years.
I won’t hide that from you.
But here’s the secret; you can do it too. All you need is a good web host such as Bluehost and Wordpress! And I can speak from experience when I say that learning how to start a blog is a solid online business that pretty much anyone can do if they take the time to learn.
