Christmas is my favorite time of the year. It’s such a peaceful time of year and for the most part, people are happy. Music – especially Christmas music (Amazon)- is important to me too. I grew up receiving professional voice training until I was 16 years old and to this day, music is where I turn when I am – well, when I am feeling anything.

Christmas music is happy, joyful and with some of the simplest but most beautiful melodies, it holds a special place in my heart.

These DIY tile coasters do as well. They are super simple, beautiful and such a great DIY Christmas gift idea. As Christmas decor, they’re so unique that they’re sure to catch the attention of even the most oblivious person.

DIY Tile Coasters

Because music is still so important to me, I have an affinity for collecting sheet music. I always have. I’ve pared back my collection over the years, but I still have shelves full of nothing but sheet music.

I love to see the notes move on the staff to create something that can channel emotions, heal, lift up or bring up memories the way music can.

It’s because of this affinity that these DIY tile coasters spoke to me. They’re covered with those same notes and staffs that speak to me.

These particular ones are covered with the sheet music for “The Twelve Days of Christmas” from the Old World Winter paper pack.

How Much Do Tile Coasters Cost to Make?

If you’re needing a quick and easy DIY Christmas gift for someone, you can’t get any better than these tile coasters. They come together so quickly and look amazing when they’re finished! Plus they’re cheap! A set of four will cost you less than $10 when you look at how many you’ll get from buying the supplies.

And that assumes you need to purchase all supplies and don’t already own some of them.

Whether you make them for yourself or as a gift, they’re sure to become one of your favorite pieces of DIY Christmas decor. I am positive of that.

What Supplies Do I Need to Make Tile Coasters?

You Will Need:

  • 4×4 ceramic tiles
  • Scrapbook paper design of your choice – THIS is what we used for the set in this post.
  • Mod Podge
  • Craft Scissors
  • Pencil
  • Foam brush
  • Felt
  • Glue Gun

What size tiles make the best coasters?

For our set of coasters, we used 4×4 tile pieces. These are the perfect size for coasters and for most drinking glasses. If you were to go much larger, you would risk dominating the table with just one coaster.

If you plan on gifting these as a set, opt for a set of four or eight. Tie them together with a pretty twine and add a gift tag for presentation.

Need a quick, but beautiful homemade Christmas gift idea? These DIY coasters are perfect! We use Christmas sheet music to create a wonderful and functional keepsake they'll remember forever. Plus, these DIY tile coasters are super simple to make!
