Not too long ago, I really began looking into how much waste our family put out each week. We had gotten to the point where we were placing two full trash bins by the curb every week and I was paying an extra $7.00 a month just to have the 2nd bin. When I realized just how much money we were actually wasting, I made it my mission in life to reduce waste in our home as much as possible. First we started with things to stop buying and make at home. Then, it was finding as many zero waste swaps as possible.
I will admit this; when we replaced disposable products with reusable products, I was absolutely floored at how much money we saved; and how much waste we were no longer throwing out each week.
I could not believe how wasteful my family had become.
Zero Waste Swaps that Will Save You Money
For most people, the connection between how actual waste – i.e. the stuff you toss the the trash can – and their budget never quite fully connects.
But think of it this way; every item you throw in the trash can; whether it is a stale box of cereal or a paper towel, you are quite literally throwing away money you spent.
It may only be a penny or three but every single one of those pennies is a penny that is no longer in your pocket. Instead, it is lying at a dump somewhere.
Reusable Products To Switch to at Home
It was this waste – both the wasted products and the wasted money – that brought on this post. Disposable products are not only bad for the environment but they’re bad for your home and budget as well.
It was this reason that I wanted to give you this list of zero waste swaps to make. If you replace even one of the disposable products you currently use with one of these reusable products, you’ll save money.
and even one is step int he right direction.
RIght now, Etsy is working to help build small business and they are making sure that they #StandwithSmall.
In fact, they’ve chosen quite a few fantastic small businesses who make amazing products with their Editors picks from the Stand with Small campaign.
I just love the motto of the campaign:
After you take a look at the zero waste products I recommend, be sure to hop on over and take a look.
