How to Make Liquid Castile Soap from a Bar of Soap
Castile soap is a staple in any toxin free home and in DIY beauty and DIY cleaning recipes. It can be so expensive though! This simple two step method will show you how to make homemade liquid castile soap from a br for much cheaper!
Shred the bar of castile soap using the fine side edge of the grater. Heat the water to boiling.
Add the shredded soap flakes to the pot or bucket then carefully pour the water over the soap flakes being careful not to splash. Use the wooden spoon to stir the soap flakes into the boiling water until it's melted.
If you're using essential oils, wait for the mixture to slightly cool and add 30-40 drops to your soap. Stir well and allow to cool fully before moving to your storage container.
Notes
If after making your homemade liquid castile soap, you find that your soap is too thin, you can thicken it by making a salt water solution. Add .5 oz regular table salt to 1.5 oz warm distilled water and stir until it is dissolved. Then, in very small amounts (1 ml or less), add to your soap and stir. Continue adding the salt water solution to your soap until you've got the consistency that you want.
