Groceries are super expensive and if you’re paying attention, you know that they’re only going up in cost. That’s why one of my priorities is to find ways to save money on groceries that don’t affect the quality of what we’re eating or our health. Around our house, it isn’t uncommon to see freeze dried food being snacked on or added to our regular meals. It isn’t uncommon to see an entire meal made from freeze dried foods either! I know how crazy that sounds, but once you finish reading this post, you’ll understand why my family loves Thrive Life Foods so much! It might seem odd to use freeze dried foods in your daily cooking, but with Thrive Life, it just makes sense. Why? They’re non-GMO, highly nutritious, mostly gluten-free  – some options have gluten of course – and save me money on my grocery bill each month! Keep reading for how I use my “secret” products to save BIG on my grocery bill. It may just surprise you!

Ways to Save on Groceries You Don't Know About - Is your grocery budget out of control? Mine was too! Find out how I'm saving over $1,000 a year with this super secret way to save money on groceries! You've likely NEVER heard of it!

I know that it might sound odd to use freeze dried food from a can in your home for regular meals, but when you think about it, it really isn’t. The majority of us use canned, frozen and prepared foods in our homes daily. In fact, the majority of our grocery stores are filled with canned and prepackaged foods. Our pantries, refrigerators and freezers are full of them too instead of good quality frugal pantry staples. We feed them to our families and the vast majority of people never stop to think about what is in them or even worse; what isn’t. Whether we want to admit it or not, convenience has become a staple in our homes much more than nutrition and real food.

What Is Thrive Life Freeze Dried Food and How to Save Money on Groceries

Most canned goods, frozen foods or other pre-packaged meals at the grocery store are full of two things: fillers and salt. Those fillers that are mixed into what should be goodness are doing horrible things for our health. As a society, we are getting sicker and sicker and a lot of it stems from those filler ingredients that are added to make you feel fuller. In addition to the fillers though, the sheer amount of sodium that we are eating on a daily basis is sickening. Salt acts as a preservative as well as a flavor enhancer so those items that you buy in the boxes and cans tend to be full of them. Finally, what is missing from those foods on the shelves are nutrients that your body needs daily. Unfortunately, a lot of the “food” that we put into our bodies is so lacking in those important vitamins and minerals that it can barely be called food. Those items are processed so much in order to make them cheap that there is very little of the original nutrition left. Even things like our juices are processed so much that there is very little to none of the original fruit left.  Sugar content in pre-packaged foods is out of control too. Even in foods that are marketed as healthy, you’ll often find 5 teaspoons, 10 teaspoons or even more sugar per serving.

Would you be willing to hand your child 10 teaspoons of sugar or salt and tell them to eat it? No! Which  makes me wonder why we’re so content to give our kids food and drinks that essentially do the same thing when we have better options available to us. Growing a garden is smart and budget friendly. Buying organic foods grown in healthy ways, even when you’re on a budget, is possible too. Cooking more and eating out less is another way to remove junk from your diet. And adding Thrive Life Foods is another fantastic way to feed your family amazing nutritious foods.

What exactly is Thrive Life?

Thrive Life began as Shelf Reliance with the idea of creating food rotation systems that the average family could use in their home. Eventually, that idea blossomed into the idea of each home having their own home store filled with nutritious foods that could be made quickly. Now, it is their mission to help people build that home store by providing amazing freeze-dried or dehydrated food, drinks and seasonings. They even have a bakery line ya’ll.

Because of the way that Thrive Life products are freeze dried, they are shelf stable and retain much more of the vital nutrients that your food originally had. They have a huge line of products too!  You can buy everything from scrambled eggs and instant milk to chicken slices , instant quinoa and beef, brownies and hot cocoa. Most products come in a smaller pantry sized can size or a larger #10 can size, however, they do offer 6 gallon bucket sizes for most products – if you’re wanting to really buy in bulk – as well as pouch products for specific items as well.

How are Thrive Life Foods used?

Just like any other food! Thrive Life is real food. Real food that has been freeze dried at the height of its freshness!  You can use them in your favorite recipes with other foods or for some products, even enjoy them as a stand alone snack! We absolutely love the Snackies product line and I can’t seem to keep the freeze dried pineapple chunks in the house! We use the Snackies anytime we’re traveling or out hiking and the pineapple stays on the counter as an anytime snack!

Looking for fantastic shelf stable foods? Try Thrive Life! They're Non-GMO, Shelf Stable for years and taste great! We use them daily!

Are they actually tasty or are you just giving me a sales spiel?

While it is true that I am a Thrive Life consultant, I would never lie to you simply to get you to purchase something. Bloggers who do that are unethical and in the wrong. My longtime readers and close friends know that I’ve got a bit more sense about myself than that. Not only that, but these products really are as amazing as I’m telling you! There’s no need to lie about them! We really do use them in our home and we really do love them! In fact, I have altered many of my recipes to exchange “fresh” products in favor of using Thrive Life products instead. Homemade pasta is one of those recipes. I have found that using a half and half mixture of Thrive Life eggs and fresh eggs gives my pasta a much better texture than fresh eggs alone.

I truly believe that Thrive Life Foods can and will help your family live better and be healthier while helping you to save both time and money!

Are Thrive Life Foods fresher than store bought foods and how?

Seeing as how Thrive Life products come in a can, you wouldn’t think so would you? Except Thrive Life foods absolutely are fresher than store bought! Let me explain how: Let’s say you head to the store to pick up a bunch of bananas. Have you ever stopped and thought about how old those bananas are? Chances are good that their journey to the produce bin that the store looked something like this:

Crazy, right? By the time that you pick up your bananas at the store, they’re already almost a month old! By that point they have lost a lot of their vital nutrients! That amount of storage and waiting can lead to a loss of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants of up to 60%! Now think about that in terms of the meat, dairy and other produce that you buy. Kinda, scary what we’re actually buying, isn’t it?

When you buy Thrive Life bananas – or any Thrive Life foods – you’re getting a fresh product that is perfectly preserved and backed by Thrive Life’s Nutrilock promise. Thrive foods are flash frozen within 2-3 hours of harvesting to ensure that they retain their taste, quality and nutrition. Then, they go through over 40 more steps to ensure the quality, taste, and nutrition that you deserve!

Okay, so they’re fresh, but how are they healthier?

We’ve already established that the foods that are on the grocery shelves are full of nasty things that none of us really want in our body, but when you feed your family Thrive Life, you’re only feeding them real food. Whether you’re popping open a can of Thrive Life chicken dices or a can of Thrive Life pineapple, the only ingredients you are getting is what you bought. In other words, if you buy Thrive Life chicken, you’re getting chicken. There are no fillers or junk added. It’s simple clean, simple food!

Also, whenever possible, Thrife products are Non-GMO. There isn’t a whole lot of research on the effects of GMO seeds on humans, but what research there is –  isn’t good. Most Thrive Life products are made without genetically modified seeds which means that you never have to worry about it! Thrive cans are clearly marked to help you easily see if a product is Non-GMO or not.

If you follow a gluten-free diet, you’ll be pleased to know that Thrive Foods also offers a wide variety of certified gluten-free foods. Like the NOn-GMO options, Thrive products are clearly marked to identify our gluten-free options.

You said Thrive Life Foods are shelf stable? What does this mean and for how long?

Because of the way that they are prepared and stored, they are made shelf stable. Most products are good – meaning they retain both their nutrition and taste – for 25 years, but others are only good for 2 years. On top of that, with the exception of a handful of products, they’re completely shelf stable for 2 years once they’re opened! This may seem a bit crazy, but think about the amount of waste that you would be reducing!

How can Thrive Life Foods help me save money on groceries?

The last time that you went to the grocery store to buy chicken, how much did you pay? $1.49/lb for chicken breast? $1.89/lb? More than that? I normally  buy regular chicken breast from Zaycon Foods at a discount, but the last time I bought it at the grocery store, I paid $1.97/lb and it wasn’t boneless skinless chicken breast. Instead, it was split breast which means that I not only paid for the meat, but also the bones and the skin that I couldn’t use for much other than making homemade stock. While I love making homemade stock, I also already have a pantry full of it that I canned up not too long ago. This means that I paid for those bones only to throw them in the freezer until I need them. When I buy Thrive Foods chopped chicken though, I’m getting only chicken meat. This means that I will use every bit of the chicken that I am paying for. In other words, it works out to be an incredibly cheap meal for our family:

In one #10 can of Thrive Life chopped chicken, I can make 13 casserole style dinners or soups. At current prices of $55.79, that is $4.29 per meal for the meat. This means that by the time I add in the remaining ingredients, I am still usually able to keep my dinner costs under $7.00 per meal. Since each meal I cook feeds a minimum of 6 servings, I’m only paying around $1.16 per serving! Most of the time I can’t do that with fresh food from the grocery store!

Then there’s the fact that you have absolutely no waste. Did you know that studies have shown that the average American family throws away 25% of the groceries they buy at the store because of spoilage. Insane, right?! How many times have you thrown out fruit or veggies or even meat because it went bad before you could use it. I know I toss something at least once a week because it went south. Maybe it gets shoved to the back of the fridge, maybe you simply aren’t cooking anything it will go well with, but for whatever reason, it goes bad. With Thrive Life, that isn’t an issue. Your items are shelf stable for at least a year meaning that you have plenty of time to use them up before they go to waste.

This reduction in waste saves you more money than you realize. Take that 25% number. Let’s assume that you spend $2,000 each year on groceries. If you’re wasting 25% of the groceries you buy, you’re wasting $500 each year! It sure doesn’t seem that much does it? That’s $5,000 every 10 years and if you buy groceries for 50 years of your life, that comes to a whopping $25,000 in wasted money and food! That’s an entire new car!

Imagine how much you would save if you spend more than $2,000 each year on groceries?!

Okay, so you say it can save money on groceries, but what about real people that have used Thrive Life to actually save?

It took me a while to sit down and figure it out for myself – mainly because I was being lazy – but when I did finally sit down to crunch the numbers, even I was shocked.  Over the course of year, using Thrive Life saved me over $1,000! Whether it was because of waste, whether it was because they’re so convenient that we didn’t eat out as much or whatever the cause, I’m $1,00 richer because of these products! Not only that, but since the prep work is so much easier and because of the higher quality of food, my family is eating more fruits and vegetables and generally just feel better!

I’m not the only one who have saved either! Thrive Life customers all over the places are saving money on their groceries left and right!

How can I add Thrive Foods to my grocery budget without sacrificing at the store?

This is a great question and one that I love answering honestly because the answer is so simple! You budget your Thrive Life foods into your regular grocery budget! It really is that simple! When you set up your Thrive Life Q, you will also set a budget for your Q. It can be anything from $50.00 to $1,000 per month! Once your budget is set and your Q is ready, you simply reallocate that money in your regular grocery budget.

For instance: My grocery bill without coupons is around $400 per month. My Q budget is $200 each month. This means that I order $200.00 worth of Thrive Life foods each month and spend $200 at the regular stores. I’m not spending any extra money out of pocket for groceries and like I said above, I’m actually saving money. Reallocating your budget like this to include the Thrive Q keeps you from having to budget any extra money but still allows you to build your Thrive Life home store easily!

What is the Q?

This is where I start to get really excited because if you couldn’t tell by my response to the previous question, I adore the Q. The Q is a monthly shipping program that allows you to personalize and customize your Thrive Life orders to be shipped to your door every single month. Yes! Groceries delivered to your door every month! How much time will that save you?

Aside from the convenience of not having to spend so much time in the store, there are other fantastic benefits to setting up your Thrive Life Q. One of my favorites is the Q Club! Thrive Life customers who have a Q with a budget set up at $100 or more – or those who join my team as a consultant –  automatically get a FREE membership in the Q Club!

What is Q Club?

The Q Club is an awesome rewards program just like your regular grocery store has only better! As a Q club member, you’ll be eligible for a monthly 30% off coupon only valid for Q-Club membersearly access to Black Friday and other sales, but the best part is that Q Club members earn 3% cash back rewards on their purchase! Your cash rewards can be used to save on shipping or saved up and banked for free food or even a free can rotation system! If your Thrive Q budget is less than the $100/mo, you can still purchase a Q Club membership for just $79.99!

How much does the Q cost?

Your Q can be set as low as $50.00 per month and as high as you’d like it to be! This is why reallocating your existing grocery budget works so well! You only spend what you can afford to and nothing more! Plus, when you host a Thrive Life party – either in person or as a virtual Facebook party – before you set up your Q, you’ll earn free food!

Wait…free food? You said I can earn free freeze dried food? How?

Aside from the reward points that you’ll earn as a Q Club member, you can also host a Thrive Life tasting party at your home with me or another Thrive Life consultant OR you can host a virtual Facebook party with me! Party hosts automatically get $50 in free food given as a $50 off $100 order coupon!
