ZzzQuil Product Review
Anyone that has spent any time around here knows that I sleep…odd. I’m plagued by a Circadian Rhythm Sleep Disorder called Delayed Sleep Phase Disorder and it, if not kept under control, causes me to have what’s considered an odd sleep pattern. In short, my body’s daily clock is backwards. It thinks that bedtime isn’t until around 3am as opposed to when I need to go to sleep at 10pm-ish. Normally this wouldn’t be an issue. I work from home so I am able to work at 2am if I need to (and do quite frequently), but I have an 8 year old that I home school so yeah…no. Mom needs to sleep on the same schedule that my Emma does. I’ve tried, what could be called “just short” of everything to force myself to sleep at a reasonable hour. As it was, the only thing that I had found that worked was a rather high dose of Melatonin each night, precisely 30 minutes before I want to sleep. No more. No less.
That is…until ZzzQuil. I was contacted to give ZzzQuil a try and since it was one of the few items that I haven’t tried, I figured why not. It’s one night and the worst thing that would happen was that it wouldn’t work and I’d have to spend the night awake. So my nifty purple bottle arrived and I set it on my my night stand in preparation for that night.
I crawled into bed that night, took the recommended dose of ZzzQuil, then turned on my Kindle to settle in and read for a bit. I kid you not, within about 15 min, I was sound asleep, Kindle beside me, lights on and all. Thank goodness for my Tommy because if not, I’d have likely slept like that all night…lol. Tommy covered me up, shut the light out and let me sleep. I slept for 8 hours and woke up feeling more awake and actually refreshed than I have in a VERY long time. (when I say very? I mean well over a year). I have to say that I have a new favorite product!
ZzzQuil is made by the same people that make NyQuil. ZzzQuil however, is alcohol free, using diphenhydramine HCI as it’s main ingredient allowing you to fall asleep fast, stay asleep and wake refreshed. It’s available in both liquid and pill form (I got to try the liquid and not only did it work, but it tasted great too!) and the best part? Unlike conventional sleep meds? ZzzQuil is non-habit forming when used according to the directions! Whoo hoo!
All in all? I can safely recommend ZzzQuil for those of you that have trouble sleeping or staying asleep. I slept for 8 hours straight, soundly and restfully and I didn’t wake up grumpy or groggy. That right there is worth gold to me.
For more info on ZzzQul, visit the ZzzQuil website and like them on Facebook where they share great info! Also, if you have trouble sleeping? I urge you to try out ZzzQuil for yourself! Once you do, be sure to tweet about how it worked for you and use the hashtag #ZzzQuilNight so they’re sure to see it!
