Have ya’ll went grocery shopping lately? Stuff is expensive! Seriously! I can remember my Mom paying less than $2.00 for a gallon of milk and now I pay between four and five for one!
Oh man. I just made myself feel really old.
Anyhow, we all know that groceries are expensive. That’s why we do what we can to save on the food that we eat, but saving on your groceries isn’t always as easy as it sounds. This week though? I shopped for FREE! Totally free, nothing out of pocket, real food. Free. That’ll save me some on my budget, don’t ya think?
When I tell you real food, I mean it. My list included things like pork loin, ground beef, spices, bacon, cheese and milk. $45.00 worth of things I needed to pick up for this week’s menu with nothing spent out of pocket. Not even a penny…and you can do it too because like I said in my post about how I add $225.00 a month to my income, I’m lazy most days. I like things to be easy since a lot of things on my daily to do lists aren’t.
The best part? I get to de-clutter as I’m working on my free groceries! That alone makes it worth it for me!
I know, I can hear you now…”Get on with it, will ya?!” Sure thing.
I “paid” for this week’s groceries with a gift card that I earned on Listia! I took all of my Emma’s clothes that no longer fit her and books that she no longer wanted and used them to build my points on Lisita. Then, I used those points to score a $50.00 Walmart Gift Card! I’m not out any money at all and I even have $5.00 left! Sure, I could have put those things in a yard sale, I could have sold them in a Facebook buy/sell group, but clothes and books typically don’t do the greatest when sold that way. So instead, I chose to send them to Listia, where I KNEW they would “sell”
Listia is awesome for de-cluttering period, but I love the fact that I can send in our no longer wanted items and get gift cards for places we shop like Walmart, Target and Amazon. I get more value for my stuff too! A pair of kids shorts might give me $0.75 at a yard sale, but on Listia, I can get $2.00 worth of points!
Right now, Listia is offering everyone who signs up for a new account 1,000 free points! Plus, if you take the time to go through the tutorials that are there, you’ll earn almost another 1,000 points! That’s enough to get you started on using the site the way I do! To pay for your groceries!
At $45.00 per week, even if I only get 1 gift card a month, that’s still $540.00 per year I’m be saving! What would you do with an extra $540.00 per year?
