So the Monkey Child? She’s a HUGE fan of micro popcorn..me however, not so much? Why? Because I don’t like the idea of .30 per bag when I know I can pop it myself for a lot less by buying a bag of kernels. The fix? Homemade Microwave popcorn. YES!!!! It CAN be done! Check this out!

Pour 1/2 cup popcorn kernels into a brown paper sack.  You can use any type of popcorn that you like. We always just use the yellow b/c it is what is cheapest. The brown paper lunch bags are the perfect size for it. Fold the bag shut and over twice.

Microwave your folded bag for 30-seconds to 1 minute. Your popcorn is done when the popping sounds slow down. Keep a close eye on it or it’ll burn just like the “real” microwave popcorn packages! Once the popping slows down, take your bag out and enjoy!

Once you’ve got the basics of getting it done, you can start to experiment with things like adding popcorn butter, different popcorn seasonings and more! I like to add a little cinnamon and sugar mixture. I just shake when its done to coat it well and then drizzle some chocolate over the top. SO yummy!

OMGosh! I knew there was a way to do it, but just never tried it. I only use the bulk popcorn too. My son and bf like the individual size bags with the other. Guess what, I am going out to get the brown paper bags and they will just have to deal with it! LOL! No more expensive popcorn, not to mention all of the junk that’s in that stuff. Thank you so very much!
