We homeschool year round here at our house. The reason we do that is because for kids like my Emma, they tend to lose a lot of a huge 3 month summer vacation. To combat that, we do 9 weeks on and 2 weeks off during the year then a full 4 weeks during June. She loves it because it seems like she’s getting more days off and I love it because we actually get more accomplished during the year! One of the things we do during her summer vacation though is a summer reading list. It helps her to catch up on any books that I don’t require she read for school (she loves to read) and lets her explore other genres and topics that I may not do for curriculum.
