So I have this addiction. It’s not the type of addiction that most people would consider an actual addiction, but I am addicted none the less. It isn’t an addiction that harms anyone at all although it can be harmful to my budget if I allow it to be.
Hi. My name is Stacy and I’m addicted to…beauty products.
It doesn’t really matter what it is, perfume, cosmetics, bath stuff, whatever…I want it. I love different scents and textures and beauty products are full of just that. Smelly good stuffs. Needless to say though? I can’t afford to go out buying things willy nilly.
That’s one of the reasons that we got rid of chemicals in our home and why I started making my own homemade beauty products again. Yes, again. It is something that I used to do but then stopped. This Lavender Lip Scrub recipe is one of my favorites to make.
One of the things that I adore about this recipe is that it is not only how easy to make, but also that it makes an amazing gift. I like to make up a few pots and add them to a gift basket full of other homemade goodies. Since they’re all so cheap to make, I can give an awesome gift for just a few dollars. With the holidays coming up, keep that in mind when you’re looking for budget friendly gift ideas. When you’re making your batches, you can use lavender food coloring if you want the purple color, but that step it totally optional. I’m not personally a big fan of colorants so I tend to leave it out of my own batches and only use it when I’m gifting. For the essential oil, I recommend NOW Foods brand lavender oil. I like them because they’re pure, but they’re also very affordable. You however can use whatever brand you prefer.
DIY Lavender Lip Scrub
This lavender lip scrub combines the healing power of lavender oil with the exfoliating nature of a sugar scrub. When you use it on a regular basis, you’ll have super soft lips! It really does work better than ANYTHING I’ve ever bought at the store!
You Will Need:
- 1.5 tablespoons sugar
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 drop of lavender essential oil
- 3 small lip balm containers
- Small bowl
- Mixing stick
In a small bowl, combine sugar, honey, and olive oil and mix together until they form a paste.
Add 1 drop of lavender oil and the food coloring if you’re using it then mix well until it’s fully combined.
Fill each lip gloss container with sugar scrub and tighten the lid down. To use, gently rub a small amount onto your lips then wipe off with a towel or rinse well. Voila! Soft lips!
