5 Frugal Ways We Saved This Week | Week of 5/2/2015

Happy Saturday! It’s hard to believe another week has past and that we’re into May already! I’ve slacked on writing this post each week recently, but I know that ya’ll enjoyed it, so I wanted to get it started again. This week has been CRAZY around our house! Have you ever had one of those weeks where you just feel like you want nothing more than a break? That’s how this week has seemed! It’s been one crazy thing after another!

Secretly? I love weeks like this. I’ll never admit it again, but they keep me on my toes and I love that!

Saving money is a family affair and our family takes it very seriously! Take a look at these 5 Frugal Ways We Saved for the week of 5/2/15! Maybe you'll save too!

This week marks the week that we finally pulled out of our family budget crisis that began last year. Our bills have been currently for quite a while, but this week we have FINALLY been able to start rebuilding our emergency fund from the hit that it took last year. It’s a small victory, but life is built on small victories, isn’t it? This week we saved a couple of different ways and I would love to share them with you. I think we actually fell short of adding 5 new ways, but the way I look at it is that any savings is a great one so even one or two works well!

First, I changed the powdered homemade laundry detergent that I’ve been using. Normally I use Ivory, but this week I tried out Zote. I have to say, I’m incredibly impressed and LOVE it! I think I’ll keep it since Zote is so inexpensive! While Zote costs more per bar, I love how it’s scented so I’ll save on fragrance oil and pay less per load in the long run!

We also cleared out some clutter this week and sent off not one, but FOUR boxes to be consigned over at Swap.com. This is my absolute favorite site to consign my no longer needed items on since they store everything, photograph it and ship it and all I have to do is send it off and price it! While this isn’t technically a way to save, I count it because 1. clutter costs me money and 2. by consigning the items, I earn extra cash that I can use to supplement my budget.

Grocery shopping happened around our house this week too! I scored over $100 total in real food for free! How you ask? Check out how I got this week’s groceries for free and then head over to Swagbucks too! Both methods were used to shop completely for free! I don’t know about you, but shopping for free is my favorite way to shop!
